Hi, I was wondering if anybody could help me.I have just bought a Lifecam VX - 1000 which says it should work fine with Windows Vista, but I am having trouble getting it to function.I inserted the disc and installed the software and drivers as intructed - which seemed to work fine - then inserted the USB plug for the camera when promted. My computer does not seem to detect the camera when it is plugged in though. I have tried using each USB slot on my computer but have had no luck.

I then uninstalled the software/drivers and reinstalled them. Still with no luck.I read on the Miscosoft support page that if you had previously installed a Logitech webcam then you could experience these problems, and was then told to download Logitech drivers. I did this, restarted my computer, and STILL had no luck.Right now, I have removed both Logitech and Lifecam software/drivers and am about to give up, but if anybody has any idea what I could do. Please help.Windows Vista is really driving me nuts. Nothing seems to work with it! Intrestingly enough im having EXACTLY the same problems. My mother has just purchased one of these and I have been trying to set it up for her but to no avail.
Download for free Microsoft VX-1000 Camera Driver for Windows XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10 (x64). Download Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000 Driver 5.12.1.67 for Windows 7 (Digital Camera / Webcam / Camcorder).
Ive downloaded the vista drivers from the website yet it still will not detect the camera. Currently im considering putting windows XP on duel boot on her computer just to get this damn thing running. Not the first problem ive had with vista not detecting hardware, seems microsoft really haven't got the support out there yet for all there products. The full link is.I just tried this first etc link and it worked with my LifeCam. I must warn anybody who tries it.
When I first tried to do it with the install disk for LifeCam 1.4 my Vista tried for about five or ten minutes before telling me that I didn't have enough disk space. I got 3GB RAM and 250 HD) Anyway, when I used this link, my computer STILL struggled for five minutes, but it eventually worked! This driver (or whatever) sez it is for LifeCam 1.30.
Also, I just tested it and the Audio sounds scratchy. I don't know if that is the computer or my camera. I have had this camera for about a year, and it worked fine with my Compaq computer with XP last week.
Now I don't know. But this link at least gets it into the Vista computer. It might work fine with yours. Good Luck with Yours.
